Optos® Retinal Imaging is a non-invasive imaging technique that captures a wide-field view of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. It uses a unique optical system that scans the retina, creating a detailed image that can reveal a variety of eye conditions. This technology allows eye care professionals to detect and diagnose potential eye problems early on, such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, retinal tears, and other retinal diseases. Corneal topography is a non-invasive imaging technique that maps the surface of the cornea, the clear front part of the eye. It uses a series of rings or lines of light to measure the curvature and shape of the cornea in great detail. This information is displayed as a color-coded map that helps eye care professionals identify irregularities or abnormalities. Corneal topography is used to diagnose and manage various eye conditions, including keratoconus (a progressive eye disease that thins the cornea), corneal ectasia (a condition that causes the cornea to bulge outward), and astigmatism. It is also essential for planning and monitoring refractive surgeries like LASIK and for fitting contact lenses.
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses light waves to create cross-sectional images of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. It works by measuring the reflections of light as it passes through different layers of the retina. This allows eye care professionals to visualize the structure of the retina in great detail, including the thickness of the nerve fiber layer and the presence of any abnormalities. OCT is used to diagnose and monitor various eye conditions, such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. Early detection and intervention can significantly improve the chances of successful treatment and preserve vision.
